Mentoring
While completing my dissertation at Duke University, I mentored 7 undergraduate students including 1 REU student and 2 undergraduate honors theses in stream ecosystem ecology. Students participated in field monitoring, laboratory experiments, and data analysis. One project is published with a co-mentored undergraduate as lead author (Baruch et al. 2018). While a postdoc at the Flathead Lake Biological Station in Montana, I participated in mentoring two REU students with Dr. Bob Hall. I am currently mentoring undergraduate students in my lab at UNR.
Biography
I study the transformations and transport of nutrients, carbon, and contaminants through watersheds and the streams that drain them at the University of Nevada, Reno. My lab uses a combination of field (environmental sensors), lab (analytical chemistry and mesocosm experiments), and modeling (mechanistic time-series models) approaches to address the questions we are most excited about!
